A deliciously funny debut from a major new talent!
MiniRabbit is making a cake.
Cake, cake, cake!
But he's run out of berries.
No berries, no cake.
No cake? No way!
So off he goes to look for some...
He's not cold, not too small.
And, no, no, definitely NOT LOST...
or is he?

This is one of those books which an early reader would want you to read it to them again and again. I read this to my Year 5 class, aged 9-10, and they laughed out loud as Mini Rabbit was on the hunt for his cake, cake, caaake! Mini Rabbit is a cute character and the illustrations are detailed and colourful which make the book an entertaining read. I would recommend parents and teachers of young children to read this.

This was a slow burner for us, at first it didn't immediately capture my four-year-old's attention but we picked it up one evening and then didn't put it down for ages - we particularly enjoyed chanting "cake, cake, cake"! There's something quite appealing about the little bunny and his quest for berries and it combines lots of lovely, cosy themes like cake and mummy waiting for you. We are now big fans!

This is an adorable story about mini rabbit's quest for berries in order to make cake.  We loved spotting the berries on every page, although of course mini rabbit doesn't see them, and the beautiful illustrations are very interactive for little ones with plenty to talk about and spot in each picture.  Mini rabbit's love for cake and ensuring that mummy has enough berries to make the cake is wonderful, and I'm sure will strike a chord with many.  I won't give away the ending but it made me laugh, so very like the toddler I have at home!!  This story had both me and my daughter laughing, and we will be seeking out more mini rabbit stories!

We’ve had this book for a few weeks now and it’s become a firm favourite already.  For the first few readings my little girl listened avidly but now she joins in with “cake cake cake” and even has a go at ‘reading’ it to herself.  The repeated language means that it’s fantastic for reading with young children.  However, the hidden details and visual jokes means that this would be a great text to use in school with KS1/LKS2.  There is lots of scope for retelling the story, dialogue work and discussions of how humour is handled in the book.
Mostly importantly though this is just a really enjoyable story that is absolutely hilarious.   Even after a few readings I found new details hidden in the pictures that I hadn’t spotted before.

A cute adventure story about mini rabbit and his journey to find berries for his cake. Mini rabbit was looking for berries to put on his cake and went far and beyond to get some. My daughter enjoyed reading this book with me and kept saying cake , cake , cake all the time. Fabulous story book with charming illustrations.

The illustrations in this book really make the story come alive and there is a bit of humour in there too which is always a winner. My daughter loved it straightaway and I think she can identify a lot with Mini Rabbit especially in terms of liking cakes! If I'm honest though,  I wasn't overly keen on the sentence structure. The way it is written doesn't make sense to a 2 year old so I have to fill in the missing words so that she understands. But maybe this wouldn't matter to an older child. Overall it is still a great book.
