Prepare to fall absolutely in love with this irresistible cookie, crumbly chocolate chips and all.

OH NO! Barbra the cactus won't stop playing her recorder, the yummy strawberry toothpaste has run out, and now - to top it all off - Cookie has to have his hair cut! Which all makes for one VERY ANGRY little cookie... But perhaps you, the reader, can find a way to turn his grumpy frown upside down? This wildly inventive, interactive, laugh-out-loud tale brings Laura Dockrill's one-of-a-kind voice and Maria Karipidou's hilarious illustrations to the Walker list.

A lovely book which introduces emotion to children. Rory loved the Angry Cookie and also enjoyed seeing what had made him so angry. I liked that it showed every day events which could cause children frustration and showed ways in overcoming them. The illustrations were bright and colourful and each page was eye catching. Well worth a read!

a fantastic, funny story that breaks the fourth wall in the way a number of popular children's picture books have recently but instead of being scared or playful Angry Cookie is well.... Angry.

After being rude (in an endearingly funny way) at the reader for a few pages Angry Cookie eventually lets us in on why he is SO ANGRY today and unpacks all the things that have built up and mushroomed into anger.
My 5 year old loves this book and can associate with some of the things that make Angry cookie angry like running out of the nice strawberry toothpaste!
Angry Cookie's shame, outrage, disgust, embarrassment and frustration are all explored through the quirky illustrations.

As a parent I love the sentiment in this story that anger happens, even when we try our best it’s not a failure or weakness,  it’s better to let it out than hold it in and get worse.

Me and my niece really enjoyed this book. We both thought it was very funny when the cookie didn’t want you to keep reading. The pictures were colourful and the book was easy for my niece to practice her reading.

A gorgeous picture book from Laura Dockrill and Maria Karipidou which beautifully demonstrates the importance of listening and friendship.  I will be putting this on my list for Empathy Day this year - would be lovely to read to Infants although I can think of a few older children who might enjoy this and learn something from it!  I have read this 3 times now and still enjoying it (as an adult) I am sure the small ones will want to read it over and over!

My partner, daughter & I love this book. 'Angry Cookie' is a paperback which is about A4 in size although a bit wider. Inside there are thick matt pages filled with illustrations and some text. Our dear Cookie is angry, oh he's ever so angry and he definitely doesn't want us to turn the page and keep reading the book, but what happens if you do?

I liked the way this book is narrated from the very first page. From the start Cookie is very angry and addresses us the readers, telling us to go away and not keep reading the book. But as you keep reading Cookie will eventually tell you why he is feeling so angry. The story is a simple one but it's something which plenty of kids and families may relate to. Cookie is angry about lots of silly things that happen throughout his day that irritated him until he got angry. Like some children, all he needs is some patience and time and eventually, knowing that we are still there while he tells his tale, he eventually calms down. I won't give away any more details but it's lovely to see Cookie go from being angry to so calm and happy. There is a good message for kids to learn about in this book, not only could some kids relate to Cookie's temper but they could also learn, like Cookie, that things aren't so bad when you think about it.

The illustrations are a big part of the reason why I love this book! Cookie is part of a world of food, mainly sweets, fruits and a few vegetables and other foods like sandwiches (and a room mate cactus!). Each character on the page is an anthropomorphic creature and the way they look just lends to the charm of this book. It's funny to spot all the different characters on the pages and identify what they are. I also like the extra added details that goes into these pictures, not only are they bright and colourful, showing emotions well, but they're also a bit silly and have some lovely details which make you look at the pictures to see all the extra things in the background.

My partner and I have never read a picture book that addressed the reader so much like this one has. We really like this take on talking to kids about anger issues and feelings. It's also just a fun book with a great ending which I'm sure many kids, as well as some adults, will enjoy looking at. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story and it has become one of her go to bed time books.
I would like to thank Toppsta and Walker Books for a free copy of this delightful book to review.

This is a great book for children as it feels that the cookie is talking to you all the way through. It has really bright pictures that draws you in and loads of detail to keep little ones interested. The ending is lovely and puts a smile on your face. My daughter loves the fact that the cookie gets annoyed so easily.

A lovely book with an unusual character,  an angry cookie who talks to you about his day and what has made him so angry. The ending is lovely as he realises life isn't so bad.
Lovely bright illustrations and lots of detail. My little one loved it!

A lovely illustrated book which makes children think about the anger emotion. Poor cookie gets very angry and you discover along the way what it is making him so cross. I liked that it showed every day events which could cause children frustration and then it showed ways in overcoming them. The book “speaks” to the reader and makes you feel involved. Thankfully cookie turns out to be happy at the end due to a special someone - you!

Who knew cookies were so grouchy? And who knew you could fall head over heels for an angry, snippy chocolate chip cookie? When his roommate won't stop playing her recorder, his favourite toothpaste has run out, and his haircut goes all wrong, Cookie finds his anger tricky to cope with. So he kind of loses it. *Deep breaths* But maybe your little readers can find a way to cheer him up? We all know that just being there for a toddler when they are mid-meltdown is just about all you can manage. So when Cookie realises that you, the reader, are still standing by his side, he finds his clouds of anger lifting. I love this story, it makes me laugh out loud. It reminds me of the whims of toddlers, how the most insignificant things can ruin their whole day! A brilliantly unique book that is inventive and hilarious alongside vibrant illustrations, there's only one way to enjoy this book: with a cookie, of course!

This deliciously, entertaining read has made my girls and I giggle and also reflect on big emotions and moody mardy moments.
We’ve all had days when it seems the little things keeping chipping away at us and those will continue. What do we do with those feelings though? Internalise them? Get angry about them? Or realise that actually talking and reflecting on them can really help. Of course it most definitely helps when you have an attentive listening ear and that is the readers role in this fun, interactive read.
