From the star writer and illustrator team of the Mango & Bambang series comes a funny, heartwarming picture book all about choosing the right dog.

It can be a pickle to pick the right dog. Take a guided tour of the dogs' home with one characterful canine - he's been there the longest and knows everyone, so he'll make sure you bring home the perfect companion.

Will it be hungry Harvey, who eats everything? Or clever Dumpling, who can chew through the crossword in record time? Or sporty Boo-Boo, as bouncy as a ball? How about Poochy Petunia Wuffles-Winstanley, the poshest pet in the pound? Oh it's so hard to choose. What a pickle!

With gorgeous illustrations from Clara Vulliamy, and laugh-out-loud text from Polly Faber, this book is guaranteed to be your favourite, whichever dog you choose!

Such a lovely book to read to children. The drawings are very well drawn for children to recognise the different personalities in each character. You fall in love with the scruffy little pup that shows you around. A good read for anytime of the day.

My daughter loved this book. She was looking forward to it, as it was about dogs, which are one of her favourite animals. We have spoken about getting a  dog in the future, so she liked the idea of it being about picking a dog. She loved looking at the different illustrations of the dogs, and deciding whether she would like that particular dog or not. It was a lovely book, and we really liked the ending. It was good that it was narrated from a dogs point of view. A big thumbs up.

This is a charming book, with gorgeous illustrations. My 6year old daughter loves this book, and will attempt to read some pages by herself using the illustrations to help. It is a decent length picture book, with just the right amount of text on each page beautifully balanced by the illustrations. The story is well written, told by the perspective of a dog who shows us around all the dogs that are up for adoption, telling us about each dog. I love the way the story has a happy ending for all the dogs and we spent a long time going through why each dog and owner were perfect for each other. A great little find, and one that will be reread many times I’m sure. I just hope my daughter doesn’t think this means we are getting a dog!

We really enjoyed this book and loved how the story ended.

My daughter likes to point out things that were happening in the pictures and even read some of the words.

We have read this book twice already and still love it.
The story of a dog at a shelter helping a person find the perfect dog for them and never once suggested itself, but at the end the person chose him. Perfect ending. Highly recommend this book

This is a lovely little picture book...perfect for dog lovers and those thinking of adopting a dog.

The illustrations are fab, they really effectively portray the differences in character, personality and appearance of the dogs, that we the readers can choose from!  Each new page brings another delightful pooch!

This is such an enjoyable book, written in such an appealing way.

Lo chose Pickle...who will you choose?

My little girl has adored this book from the minute it arrived in the post. Picking Pickle has the most adorable illustrations of dogs and we could stare at them all day. We have been talking about getting a dog when we move so this has made my little one even more excited for picking out a future friend. An adorable read that my daughter and I highly recommend!

A really fun picture book about choosing a dog. A dog welcomes you to a dog shelter and introduces you to several different dogs, such as Dibble who can round up anything, and Boo-Boo who is like a bouncy ball. In between the dog plays with you and finally asks you which dog you are going to choose to take home. Who will it be? The illustrations are lovely and appealing, and the whole book is really happy.

What a beautiful story about adopting a dog and visiting a shelter to chose a dog.
My daughter was so excited when she opened this book.
She want to read this book herself with help first thing to please her was this book has been adopted by. Proudly she writes her name neatly and starts to read the book aloud to us.
With help she managed most of the books and like the way it was written words highlighted and different fonts. She loved telling us about each of the dogs page by page.
Lovely dog illustrations and beautiful book for us now to adopt in to our family.

It's a fantastic story with beautiful illustrations. It's such a heartwarming book about rehoming animals. It's a perfect book to start  a conversation about adapting a pet from shelters and treating them with respect and care. We all fallen in love with Pickle and his  playful nature and we love the ending most.

This is a very sweet story about a dozen dogs who are all waiting to be adopted. There's a little pooch at the start that introduces you to all the different dogs and forgets to introduce and try to rehome himself. My son really enjoyed the book and seeing all the different breeds of dogs. Quite a unique story with lots of lovely illustrations.
