A favourite author in my childhood that I have kept a strong tie to during adulthood too.
Charlie and the chocolate factory is one of those popular classics that everyone can clearly see in their minds eye as they plough their way through the pages.
Without too many hard to read words conjured up by the fabulous author that is Roald Dahl, this is a brilliant book for many children to embark upon themselves.
For younger children I find it a good book to read a chapter to each evening before bed, but older children would find it a good story to get their teeth into alone!

Georgie has just begun to want to read Roald Dahl books and this is the one we’ve begun with.
She loves all of the description in this book and secretly wishes she could have won a golden ticket too!
She loves the characters that Dahl has created and asks lots of questions about them.
She has enjoyed looking at the pictures which has helped to bring the story to life even more.
We will watch the movie next.
