A delightful Nature Storybook about a rescue dog, packed with useful information and charmingly illustrated by Salvatore Rubbino.

With charming illustrations from Salvatore Rubbino, this delightful non-fiction picture book tells the story of a rescue dog. Sophie is a boisterous and lovable Jack Russell, brought home from a rescue centre. The book follows her delightful adventures: join Sophie and her new family as she learns how to respond how to orders such as "sit" and "stay", is taken for walks in the park where she encounters other dogs and accidentally wins a dog show! The smaller caption text gives readers information about feeding and grooming your dog, different dog breeds, communication and training, and how dogs respond to human voices. The back matter includes a helpful index and bibliography.

A really wonderful tale about Sophie the dog and her new family. It's beautifully illustrated as well. The story is really lovely, but what makes this bostand out is the advice throughout for would be dog owners, explaining terminology such as 'chew toy' and 'collar', but also lots of useful advice about the needs of a dog too. It made this book very interesting to read as it stimulated lots of conversations about all the things we need to do for a dog if we get one. Really super!

This book serves two purposes - it tells the story of how a dog meets it family and it’s adventires, and it gives lots of helpful facts for getting to know and looking after dogs.
The illustrations are detailed and fun.
It is a heart warming story and good to use with young children if you are thinking of getting a dog for the first time.
