We love this book! It has been and continues to be a favourite with all 3 of my children.
I think this is because they can recognise the feelings that he owls experience when they think their mum won't come back.
I have used this book as a teacher too and it works well to associate it with when the children first started school.
The illustrations are detailed and my children enjoyed deciding which owl was which character in the story.

This a beautiful book about baby owls wondering where their mum has gone. It's a good one for children starting nursery as they will get to know that the mummy owl always return to her three baby owls. Which will be the same concept when they are dropped off at nursery. It's short and to the point with fab pictures children will love it. One of
My favourite books

A beautiful story I have just shared with my son at bedtime. Ideal as he goes to nursery in the morning and each time I take him he says he misses me - this story is about baby owls missing their mother who then returns. So lovely to reinforce the message that their mummy will return to collect them. My son (3 yrs old) loved the story and found it very amusing that there was an owl called Percy! Lovely book.

My daughter is still a bit young to follow the story but she loved looking at the wonderful illustrations. It was a lovely book to read and showed the different emotions of each baby owl as they realised their mum had left them. It's a reassuring story for children that mum will return and it portrays that message well. The pictures are great and the story is well written. Excellent book. I will enjoy reading this over and over again.

A heartwarming story about 3 little owls and their worries about their mother. One night Sarah, Perci and Bill wake up and find their mummy is gone. Each of them has their own thoughts  about their mother whereabouts and in the end their mother comes back to them from hunting.
It's a lovely story with fantastic illustrations. My daughters love to joined Bill to say " I want my mummy " every time we read this book.

This is a timeless classic. A very simple story line about owl babies worrying about their mum returning - she always does and so this can be used at any period of anxiety or transition. Having said the story line is simple, the book itself is a treasure, beautiful illustrations and you can't help but love these baby owls. I read it  to my son and am now happily sharing it with my grandchildren, lovely!

We absolutely love this sweet bedtime tale about an owl missing his mum, it's well written and beautifully illustrated. It's a bedtime favourite of my 3 boys, a story they ask for again and again. We had an audio version included in our copy of the book which is prefect for long journeys and my eldest has it on a MP3 player to help him relax for bed.

This is a wonderful book. It has become an instant favourite of my daughter's and she has asked for it at bedtime every night since we have had it. The illustrations are beautiful. It's an easy story for little ones to follow with a lovely underlying message that Mummy will always come back.

This is a must in any child's book collection. My son had read this at nursery so I am so happy we finally have our own copy. The book is about the fear that all children have when they are not near their mother - so I think it would help reassure any readers who are starting school that mummy will always come back.
We love this book!

I read this to my nursery and preschool class. It never fails to maintain their attention throughout the story. This book touches on the anxiety little ones feel at being separated from their mummy, with the oldest sibling trying to be very brave at first, and the youngest of the three babies just wanting his mummy back. As the night goes on all three huddle together waiting, and then their mummy comes. It is a reassuring story, that mummy will come back, and the illustrations are just beautiful.

This is a beautiful book, and is already a firm favourite for my 3 year old. He really enjoys the comforting and reassuring ending, and it has really helped him to explore his own anxieties at a time when I have returned to work after maternity leave. My little girl, who is 1, loves the illustrations, and the detailed and atmospheric illustrations are strikingly different to those of her other stories. Although she is only very young still, the story has opened up opportunities for me to talk about my returning to work and reassure her. We love it!

A brilliant book for sharing with little ones that works on many levels including bonds, challenging times, expectations and more. With the dark background making this book stand out from the normal white background, it really drew my children's attention in. They really enjoy this story, day or night, but especially at night.

This was a lovely little story about baby owls missing their mummy. My nearly 3 year old enjoyed the story very much especially joining in the repetition of "I want my mummy" even my baby was enthralled by the wonderful illustrations and was kept interested by the story. The premise behind the story (missing mum) is instantly relatable to even the youngest of readers and it's lovely that it can be used as a way of reassuring young children that mummy does come back. All in all I can see this becoming a firm favourite at bed time for many years to come.

I have been reading this book to my little ones for years and we still love it. The owl babies wake up and wonder where there mummy is gone. They talk amongst themselves of the different possibilities and then she comes back. My little ones used to get really sad when the owls couldn't find their mummy and then so happy when she returned. I think it has an excellent message to the story and great for kids who are starting school, going to nursery or a childminder.

A lovely little book about three ‘owl babies’ who wake up to find their Mummy gone and how they feel as the hours pass. Eventually she returns home so all is well in the end but helps children understand that fear of being left alone is ok and that generally when Mum and Dad leave them, they will come back again!

The artwork is bold and captures the darkness of the night which exaggerates the owl babies’ fear.

Definitely a book to seek out if you haven’t come across it already!
