Murph Cooper has a problem.

His new school is top secret, and super weird. His classmates can all fly or control the weather or conjure tiny horses from thin air. And what's Murph's extraordinary skill? Um, oh yeah - he hasn't got one.

Just as well there are no revolting supervillains lurking nearby, their minds abuzz with evil plans. There are!? Right. Ok, then...

It's time for Kid Normal to become a hero!

GREAT BOOK! It is quite a big book but I just couldn't put it down and still managed to finish it in a week. The book is filled with great illustrations that really add a sense of imagination to the story. The book is adventurous, creative and fun. I can't wait to read the second and third books.

This is a great book for kids and adults alike. Kid Normal is about a kid that feels 'different' because he's 'normal'.    I like the fact that having Murph as the main character shows that 'normal' is the best super-power, and anyone can be a hero.
It was a lititle slow to start, but without all that the end wouldn't have been as good. I couldn't put it down in the end, and can't wait to read the next book.

where do i start i cannot recommend this book enough!! I loved it myself and the kids even more!!!
Being normal is not a thing that everyone is aware of and what even is normal. The storyline of the book is brilliant !!!!
The children could really relate to the boo. Our favourite character has to be the main - murph or as his brother says Smurph face
not so kind. We read this book over a couple of days as it was summer holidays and it was one where we got so engrossed and the kids wanted to read the end :)
Murph was not finding a place in school and when his mum did find him a place they thought he could fly !!! Yes and thats all we are going to tease for you give it a read!!!

My almost seven year old son read this as one of his first independent reading novels.
He took his time with it, belly laughing at some parts and reading me his favourite bits.

He told me afterwards that he really liked the main character and I've since had a read through myself. The story is a really great read with a good plot. Perfect for the age 7-11 I'd say.

A hilarious book which I couldn’t put down. My favourite character was Murph and his struggles with moving into a new place, house and school. He is a character who is easy to identify with.  I would also suggest the title-Ordinary, yet Extraordinary for the book. Even though Murph’s friends have superpowers, he doesn’t, yet he copes. This is a story of resilience.

This was a brilliant book we enjoyed reading this every day.  My children really enjoyed Murph moving to his new school and the new group of friends that he makes.  They then end up on taking the baddy to become heroes themselves proving some people wrong along the way.  It was well written and the plot was intersting for both childrens and adults.  Would recommend this for children who love either superhero stories or books about friendship.

What i really liked with KID NORMAL is that i couldn't actually tell that it was someone's first book, i didn't actually realise it was their first release until i went to look for more.

It was utterly hilarious, i sat giggling to lots of different parts and it was quite heartfelt, the story of a normal boy who happens upon this hero school and his journey to fit in.

I sat for a few days reading it. I always enjoy illustrations in books, especially fun cartoon ones so i liked the ones in KID NORMAL.

I will admit that i found it a little slow to begin with it and had trouble getting into it but once i did i was well away and wanting more.

Another children's book written by celebrities. However, this one differs greatly from the all the others I've read, This book is hilarious AND does not sacrifice plot for humour. A real page turner, you can't help fall in love with the seemingly hapless Superzeroes.

I can see this book and hopefully it's sequels getting a massive cult following. The subtle humour will appeal to adults too. If you have a child, buy them this book. If you don't, buy it for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Having read some to Freddie and he also read independently this book has been so much fun. We have enjoyed all the fun and silliness this book has to offer. I've caught Freddie in fits of giggles too. I cannot recommend this book enough.

We really enjoyed Kid Normal. It made us both laugh and reminded us a bit of a cross between Hogwarts and X Men....but with Kid Normal, who doesn't have a super power. It's written in a style that younger (and older) readers really like, with lots of silliness throughout.

Benjamin and I read the book together. Kid normal has likeable character and is very relatable. We had fun reading it together, laughing along at parts, the silliness helped keep B’s attention as did the illustrations. Would recommend, a fun book to read, we are looking forward to finding more in the series.

Kid Normal 9781408884539

I really enjoyed this book, it is nice to know that lots of people feel like they don't always fit in but you don't have to be a super special person to be a hero, everyone can be.

I thought it was quite funny but some of the jokes are probably for younger kids than me.

If I could have been one of the kids with a super power I think I would have chosen to be able to control the weather - too hot? turn the sun down, too cold? make a freak snowstorm.  Cool!

I think all of the main characters were great, so funny and all just different to the standard school characters you might expect to find (Nellie was my favourite)

This would be great for anyone my age 11 or younger, maybe down to around age 8.

As an 11 year old boy who recently started secondary school, I can really relate to kids normal on every level! It’s very funny and it’s the kind of book that keeps you entertained on a long journey or you can pick up and read fairly easy. I’d say this book would be great for the younger readers aged 9+ as it’s a bit too simple for me and that’s why I have it four stars.

This book is about a superhero school for children. It took me a while to get into the story but as the book went on it got better and I really wanted to find out what happened next.

There are some funny parts in the book with some good illustrations. I really liked the book cover and the yellow sides of the book.

Kids normal is a normal kid that goes to a school with superheroes.  All of the heroes that go there have powers like Elsa who has snow powers and Superman is a teacher, oh an a Miss Flash. There's even a Mary who has a flying umbrella like Mary Poppins.  It's quite fun to read.

Any superhero loving kid would want to read this book.  I like it but don't love it but I'm not really into Heros.
