This is a great book for talking to children about different types of families as there are a good selection of different types & sizes of families in the very detailed illustrations and the text is a good starting point for talking about what makes a family, what do we need families for and the kind of things we do with our families. The children enjoyed looking at it and comparing to their own experiences.

JJ read this with me, and loved the rhyming which made it easier to follow. It is a lovely book that explains how even though we are all different in our families, the most important thing is love and being together. It explains the differences in people and how our lives are better for it. The illustrations are just beautiful and the book just flows. a lovely book to read snuggled up together.

This book is a great introduction into the diversity of families. The text is an easy to follow rhyming text about the various trials, triumphs, and everyday lives faced by all families. The illustrations are what really makes this book. Each spread contains a series of illustrations of different families experiencing something related to the text. These families include single parents, grandparents raising children, adopted or foster children, blended families, same sex couples, and heterosexual couples with biological children. The families also represent various races and mixed race families. I think almost every child will be able to find at least one family that has something in common with theirs. And it opens up discussion about how all families are both different and the same. This book would be a welcome addition to nurseries and schools to show the true diversity of their children's families. It's a great resource and an enjoyable book.

Beautifully illustrated book backed with a endearing storyline. Whatever your colour creed or religion you family will be there for you, to love, care for you and pick you up when you fall. My 4 year loved this book and we read it together whilst discussing the pictures which show many different types of families.

I really recommend this book especially if your child has friends that are not quite the same as them as my son does. It makes it easy to explain that differences don't matter everyone is equal.

A wonderful book about the diversity of families; the illustrations  show different family dynamics; there are same sex parents, grandparents looking after a child , mixed race families, etc . The book has only a couple of sentences on each page describing the daily tasks we encounter. However, it's the illustrations that tell the story ; they have lots of details to talk about.  My daughter loved discussing what was happening in each picture.  This book is a great way to introduce the differences around us but also to show how we are all just the same.
The book is made to a high quality; the cover its of a strong, thick  cardboard, whilst the pages are on beautiful paper.
The book has an expensive feel to it. I would definitely recommend this book especially if you want to talk to your children about diversity in our families.

Beautiful book! This is a simple rhyming book about family life, illustrated by the daily lives of several different families. It's inclusive and shows all kinds of different families. There's plenty to discuss in the pictures and my little boy liked doing things such as choosing which of the children's bedrooms he liked. It feels lovely and gentle and it's so nice to see different families represented.

A sweet story about how family should love and be there for you. Talking about the good and the bed times. The book was really well illustrated with lots of family pictures which the kids could look at and talk about! A great family book that they have all ready looked through a number of times and it's only been the first day

What a beautiful book!

Just as the name suggests, this book is all about families and is all in a rhyming format which makes it easy for kids to follow.

The illustrations are wonderful and show a lot of diversity in different family formats, and teach children that all families are different but have one key ingredient - that they love one another.

Dexter loved listening to me read this book to him and he took delight in pointing out all of the illustrations and what the families were doing in them i.e. going for a walk, playing on the swings etc.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed this book!

I read it myself (an adult) & to Lucia B. aged 6 aged 6
We Are Family 9781848575516
5 stars
This quality colourful book is a delight. I enjoyed it myself before passing it to Lucia 6, who read it to herself in bed. The text on each page rhymes simply, following a variety of families throughout their similar days.
The illustrations are bright & clear, showing some children wearing glasses or in a wheelchair, some with grandparents, two daddies, or brothers & sisters who look different to other members of their families. The important thing, says Lucia, is that they all love each other, and some of them have bunk beds!
