Duck wants to join a club. But he needs to be able to ROAR to join Lion Club, or TRUMPET to join Elephant Club. And all he can do is QUACK! What's a Duck to do? Why, set up his own club of course... where everyone is welcome to join!
With a laugh-out-loud text from John Kelly and brilliantly quirky illustrations by Steph Laberis, Can I Join Your Club? is a heart-warming story which celebrates the importance of diversity and friendship. Perfect for little ones who are learning to make friends at a new school or nursery.

Duck wants to join a club but Lion, Snake and Elephant won't let him join their club. They deny his applications because he cannot roar, hiss or trumpet. So Duck decides to set up his own club. The only criteria for a successful application is wanting to join!

This is a lovely book with a great message for young children about the importance of including everyone and not leaving others out. Beautifully illustrated and run to read. Highly recommended.

Excellent book!  There is a wonderful range of animals and associated noises to make to keep everyone happy, even the very youngest.  My daughter really enjoys roaring like the lion and then hearing all the other noises.  The moral of the story is a bit beyond her right now, but I very much like it - make friends with everyone, exclude noone.  And with a happy ending too.  This is a book my daughter demanded I read to her as soon as it arrived, and she loves it every time we get it out, which is rare.  Full of colourful illustrations and simple text, highly recommended.

Duck is a friendly, outgoing character who really wants to join a club, in this case an animal club. Each club has it's requirements..can you "Roar" like Lion? Or "Hiss" like Snake? Sadly not because Ducks thang is quacking of course but that doesn't deter him. He goes on to make his own club which welcomes all animals, no matter what they can and can't do. Little One really felt for Duck and the fab illustrations in the book really highlight how Duck is feeling. It celebrates that we are all unique but it doesn't mean we can't all get along "...you can never have too many friends." This book promotes a lot of discussion around individuality, friendship and more. It is a funny, delightful read with a positive message.

He has now moved on to shouting at a computer screen, sharpening endless pencils, and staring at a blank page of a Moleskine notebook.
