This is a great soothing, bedtime book. Short and simple, but catchy. I like the mix of black and white and colour pictures. It's a nice story that my little boy enjoyed listening to.

Ivy really enjoyed this book at bedtime. Its a very simple short book but I think that's what makes it so perfect for bedtime as its very soothing. My daughter loved looking at the pictures too. This is a new bedtime favourite for us.

Deservedly a classic. I find it soothing to read. I have been reading it to my 4 year old since she was a baby and she still asks for it sometimes (knows all the gentle, rhyming words) and I have started to read it with my baby too. The bold but muted colours suit bed time, and it is perfect for reading calmly and softly. Good night, moon... And, doze...

We have loved reading this book and read it so many times. Its such a nice settling story for getting your child to relax. Its a lovely way to say goodnight as the story says goodnight to all the things in the room. It rhymes and reads really well, doesn't contain many words but can be read nice and slowly. I would really recommend this book to calm your children before bed.

This would normally have been the last book I'd pick up off the shelf for my little person but it was recommended for our bedtime routine for my sleep fighting munchkin.
I'm glad that I'd had the time to read through it before bedtime to figure out how to pace it, as the illustrations spread out the words across what you might expect from a bedtime book for early toddlerhood.
The words &  pace do seem to have a mild hypnotic effect & do help settle down our rambunctious little person enough to allow sleep to sneak in. I highly recommend getting the board book version for ease of page turning.

My daughter has been having trouble falling asleep. I used to read this book to her when she was tiny but I returned to it as I thought it would help her feel all sleepy and snug. It worked! It’s a short story with calming pictures that really helps to settle little ones. It has lots of little things for tired eyes to spot and a gentle half rhyming text. A really lovely book that should be on everyone’s bookshelf :)

This is a gentle and soothing book for bedtime. At first I thought it maybe a little simple, but that is actually what you need to soothe little ones before bed. My family enjoy it. We have borrowed this from the library many times.

I've never cone across this book before. Thanks handwriting is quite small for little ones but it's a lovely sturdy hardback which is bright and colourful. Sophie enjoyed it very much and so did I.

I’ve always wanted to read this book but never saw it anywhere in order to buy, was not disappointed when I received it as a toppsta giveaway.
It’s a lovely simple story that’s easy to read and perfect for reading as your snuggling up and relaxing with your little ones ready for bedtime. My son loved this book to and was captivated by the lovely illustrations.

I love, love, love this book and totally see why it is a classic. It is very calming to read slowly to a child as he or she prepares to go to sleep. And the repetition of 'good night' and gentle rhymes make it soothing, predictable and easy to imitate in real life too, to say good night to things around a bedroom and to each other.
I like the colour scheme and illustrations too as bold and instantly recognisable.

My son really loves this book. We read the text and look for the items in the pictures. It alternates between colour and black and white pages. We also like to look for the mouse that is on every colour page!

This really is the perfect bedtime book, a real classic. It's short and sweet with a lovely mix of pictures so is perfect for winding down. Samuel enjoyed this book before he went to bed and I think it will become a permanent feature on our bookshelf.

This was a lovely book to read to my baby at bedtime, and I can see it becoming a regular part of the bedtime routine. With the gentle colour-change from brighter to darker colours, and the use of rhyme and whispering, this helps to induce relaxation. The thick pages will allow my little boy to eventually turn the pages himself, and I look forward to him being able to spot the mouse on each page. We really loved this book, and would recommend it to anyone with young children.

This is a wonderful story.  I read it to my children every night at bedtime and I still love reading it to all the children in KS1 at the school where I work.  It is a simple but very catching story and the children love to take part and we make up our own version. I would highly recommend this book to be on everyone's bookshelf.

My daughter enjoyed the soothing rhythm of this quirky little story. It alternates between black and white and colour pictures and is very simple for a young child to follow and enjoy. If you're expecting action and adventure, this probably isn't the book for you but for a quick yet cosy story, it's a really lovely little read.

Goodnight Moon 9781509831975
4 stars
This story is a lovely, gentle story book for young children. The words have a repetitive pattern and link well to the pictures so even the youngest children can follow what is happening. It is quite different from stories around at the moment both in words and colours but that makes it more interesting in many ways. It is certainly not a fast paced, all action story but if you want a nice gentle way to introduce bed time then this is a good one to choose.

This book has a soothing rhyme to help your child fall asleep.  We read it in a soft tone before bed to help settle him before bedtime.  The book also makes the reader point out certain objects in the illustrations which helps to engage your child whilst reading the story.

This book was very good for him to be able to read due to the simple words and the use of rhyming throughout the book. I think this was really effective as it allowed the child to enjoy the book and find it very funny. I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

A little old fashioned but to be expected as it's 70 years old! However, a nice first book for baby. Meant to be good for helping baby go to sleep but think maybe my little girl was a bit old for the book at 20 months.

I read it to Little One aged 3 aged 3 & to Baby aged 1 aged 1
Goodnight Moon 9781509831975

My three year old daughters reaction to the book was positive however she did comment on the colours being "different." I would have to agree however, we discussed how the book was not written recently.

The story is that of goodnight, where every object in turn is spoken to and is told goodnight. The repetitive words are sure to be soothing and relaxing for many children and the combination of colour and black and white pages are sure to keep young ones attentive. However, perhaps the colours are a tad too out there for a book which is to be read just before going to bed.

My younger daughter listened to part of the story carefully and with it being a board book she was able to manouvre through the pages far easier then a paperback.

It is certainly an interesting book and one that echoes the goodnight message clearly for young ones.

Goodnight Moon 9781509831975

It was a nice soothing story but to be honest my little one didn't seem that interested. She liked the colourful pictures and found the pages easy to turn but I think it might be better for her when she's a bit older. It was a one-read through book when she currently likes to read the same story over and over again.

This book is lovely with the combination of black and white illustrations and coloured illustrations and my 1 year old really liked looking through the pages.

I found the story a little strange and not one I would normally look at buying myself.

This was won by my 5 year old and upon reading it we were a little disappointed. It's a bit of a strange rhyming book that makes very little sense and just seemed to confuse him. I think for younger readers it might be good as its colourful, short and rhymes but for school children it just seems a little odd.

My son said he liked the pictures but thought the book was funny and I had read it wrong.

Goodnight Moon 9781509831975

This was a nice, simple bedtime story - I wouldn't have said it captured either of our imaginations but it was a calm, soothing book to read in the evening as Percy had his milk.

I know this is a classic kids book which people love, but neither me nor the kids get the hype!  The pictures are nice and bright but the prose is stilted and the kids seem to lose interest quickly (and my son especially adores books!). We have plenty of other books which they prefer so this rarely gets picked up.
