Fabulous. My 4 yr old who has recently started primary school loved this one. He's asked for it a few nights running as his bedtime story now. As well as being rather amusing for him, he loves the fact there's a secret being kept by the protagonist at the end.

Great story about pets at school day. It's a typical David Williams style book which kept my daughter engaged with amazing pictures and use of the English language.

I was super excited to read a David walliams book to my daughter.
It was totally a David book! Funny words and pictures. I was a little weird about the end of the book where we find out the snake ate the head teacher. Luckily my daughter didn't notice or understand that she'd been eaten.
I would recommend this book and I'd happily buy others by David walliams.

This book was fantastic, another great story by our favourite author David Walliams, my daughter laughed out loud when we read this together, and we couldn't put it down, it's now permanently on her bed ready for her nighttime read. Great pictures and so well written...loved the ending!

What can I say??!! This is brilliant! I read this myself first and found myself tittering! Miranda is a little bit different which is a great message to kids! Loved the fact that stuffy old Miss Bloat suddenly 'disappeared '. The illustrations are fabulous, and there's so much to spot time and time again. Brilliantly written, without doubt one of the best children's books I've read in a while.

This is a fantastic book the illustrations are colourful and bright; there is so much to see on each page and talk about. I read this to my three year old daughter and she really enjoyed it she laughed at lot and loved seeing the snakeskin with glasses and lipstick on. She didn't understand some of the humour but that was fine as I did,and I enjoyed the story as much as she did. I would recommend the story to slightly older children. The story itself is funny and very witty and has a great story . I would definitely recommend this book.

This is a brilliant book that we all love as a family. Personally I have mixed feelings about David Walliams books - some are amazing and some I'm not very keen on but this one is a hit and is reminiscent of a modern Roald Dahl story with the nasty headmistress and the feisty protagonist. The teacher has told the children they can bring a pet to school and Miranda brings her python - chaos and fun ensues. We love the character of Miranda who is her own person and doesn't just follow the crowd and the illustrations interwoven into the story by Tony Ross just make it even better. Highly recommended for all ages.

It is Bring Your Pet To School Day and while all the other children have brought pets like goldfish and their dog, Miranda likes to be different and has brought Penelope her pet python to school! At first the other children are afraid of Penelope, but then soon learn how amazing Penelope is. Miss Bloat the headmistress is not quite as keen on Penelope though....

An absolutely hilarious book with amazing illustrations from the very talented Tony Ross. We've read this every day for the last two weeks and my children still find something new in the pictures.

A must for any child's bookcase.

It'sssss exssssssellent! "It's outstanding. I just love it! It's good because the little girl is different to everyone because she has a python called Penelope and all the other children don't have anything like that, a hamster or dog or something like that. I like that it's like a slide and climbing frame, and if I had that as a pet I would have her as a fun lift or taxi, I'd ride on my snake all the way to school. I liked the colours. It made me laugh. I learnt that it's not always good to be the same and pythons are more clever than teachers." Kikki age 5 and a half

Beautifully written and lovely illustrations- yet another David Walliams book that doesn't fail to disappoint.  We both loved the easy to follow storyline and illustrations that helped Ewan to read parts of the story to himself.  We like how the author uses large print words for effect and uses vocabulary that can be guessed for child participation.  The characters are thought through well and are likeable except Mrs Bloat who you feel deserves what happens to her at the end of the story.  As an adult the story at the end is predictable but Ewan didn't guess what would happen and enjoyed discovering what happened to Mrs Bloat when I showed him the picture.  Yet again another brilliant read- thank you David Walliams.

A great book by David Walliams, like many of his books the story focuses on a character, Miranda, that is a little different. As always the difference turns into a positive and Miranda is a hero by the end. An amusing story with lovely pictures by Tony Ross which really do bring the story alive.  Whilst this is aimed at 3years plus, I think a lot of the ideas and jokes are more for slightly older children - this is not to say 3 year olds wont enjoy reading it, much more to fully appreciate it I think you need to be older than 3. Overall though a very good book.

A very funny - if a little predictable -  story of a young girl names Miranda who takes her pet python to school on 'take-your-pet-to-school day'. Lots of laughs to be had throughout. I am definitely looking forward to sharing this in school. Once again Tony Ross has worked wonders with his bright, eye-catching illustrations.

I saw this book in shops a lot and was 'umming and ahhhhing' about buying it. I ended up borrowing it from a friend who had it. The book is funny and my son enjoyed it - especially as he has just started school. The pics are great! It's worth a read!

I was excited to read this to my child as we had never read anything by David Walliams before but I was a little disappointed. The story itself is quite funny about a very unusual girl and her snake, although it is a bit predictable in places. It is aimed at 3+ years however a lot of the jokes went over my 3 year olds head as I feel it is aimed at slightly older children. Also the writing is all over the page and in places around the images which made it quite hard to read, on our first reading I think I read a few things in the wrong order. The illustrations by Tony Ross are amazing though as usual which is why we are giving this 4 stars.
