Luke's always been good at knowing things. He could guess at a right answer in class or pick up on things other people couldn't. But now it's sharpened into something much more. Now Luke can actually hear people's thoughts. And there's a weird new girl hanging around who seems to know exactly what he can do. She wants something from him but can he trust her? Not everything is as it seems in this high-octane thriller, perfect for fans of Alex Rider. Particularly suitable for struggling, reluctant and dyslexic readers aged 8+

This book was really good, wanted to keep reading to see what happened next. The book is mysterious and there are some twists that you don't expect. It's a short book. There are two main characters.

I really enjoyed this book because it is adventurous, exciting and fun! I like how the pages are yellow-tinted making it easier and quicker to read for dyslexic children.
This story is about a boy called Luke and a girl called Samira.  Luke can read minds, but Samira can write all over them...  Samira is extremely curious about this old man with white eyes - and Luke is forced to read his mind!
I've never read a book this in my life - its amazing :-)

I enjoyed this book as it was very gripping, thrilling and unexpected. I got quite a shock as it was different but in very good way I hope Steve Cole makes more as it was very good.

I really liked this book.

The main character is called Luke. He can read minds which is good because he knows all the answers for school!

It is also bad because he gets into a scary adventure, which is quite dark in places.

Mind writer is a mysterious book.  It catches your attention and you can't stop reading it.  It has monsters!  The characters were a bit creepy and seemed to come to life!  I really enjoyed this story!

This is an unusual book because although the writing level is approximately 8 plus the presentation style is an odd mix of slightly scary pictures but with a large font and few lines to a page. Initially my 9 year old was reluctant to read it because of this saying it was for 'younger kids'. The actual story is fast paced and the book is short. It will appeal to kids who like a horror theme. The story involves just two main characters over a single day with basically a chase followed by the finish. The idea for the story is interesting but its so short it doesn't really develop which is a little disappointing. The artwork is good though.
