What I liked about the collection is that they are set early on in Alex’s adventures, you don’t need to have read ALL the adventures to be able to read these. There are a couple of spoilers for the events of Stormbreaker, Point Blanc, Skeleton Key and hints of Eagle Strike as the short stories are supposed to occur in between these adventures.

They range from events resembling a short mission, with action sequences like an extended opening to a Bond film, remembering a time before Alex’s uncle died to minor quirks such as visiting Smithers for tea and more.
However, it’s worth pointing out for superfans that some have been previously published as bonus or special material but there are brand new short stories too.

Alex Rider Secret Weapon is a collection of brilliantly written short stories that give more information into the world of Alex Rider, a teenage MI6 agent.
Featuring stories that give an insight into gang crime, the private life of Smithers, a technology creator that has been with Alex since the very start, and even details ex military operations that impact civilisation in the present time.
This book is a great way of getting young readers interested in Anthony Horowitz's adrenaline pumping book series that holds at present 12 books if you include this one. This book is ideal for reluctant readers to see how brilliant the other books are too.

After twelve highly enjoyable adventures, featuring the indestructible teenage spy Alex Rider, here is a collection of seven equally entertaining short stories. There are four previously published stories & three new adventures for this collection.
Every story here is a huge amount of fun & they are told at a breakneck pace. I was especially pleased to read in the introduction that Anthony Horowitz is currently writing a new Rider novel entitled Nightshde....that's one I'm already looking forward to reading.
For anyone who enjoys the Alex Rider adventures I can highly recommend the excellent novel The Boy Who Knew Too Much by Jeffrey Westhoff. It's fast paced fun with plenty of James Bond references & as good as any Horowitz story.

Hollie loved this book because of all the seperate stories and all the different adventures alex coped with. With mi6 by his side everything went just perfect. If i lived a life of a spy i would want to read plenty of books that were about adventures. This book made me feel that i was a spy and i felt how alex felt.

Who doesn't love a great spy adventure!  This book contains 7 short but exciting, Alex Rider adventures.  The adventures range from about 14 to 80 pages long, so it's perfect for those who don't like reading big novels.   They do follow on from each other which is great, moving from one adventure to the next and it also includes lots of background details.  So even if you haven't read any of the Alex Rider series you will still know a lot about the characters.  Some of these little stories have be used in newspapers etc. but have been jazzed up and some of them are brand new.

This is a great book for any Alex Rider fan but also for those younger or maybe reluctant readers who like adventure stories but are not normally comfortable with picking up a big book. I enjoyed the whole book but the first story 'Alex in Afghanistan' was my favourite. My daughter thought the 'Man with 11 fingers' was fantastic and my school reading group couldn't pick a clear favourite.  But one thing we did all agree on was the 5 star rating!

I would highly recommend this to girls and boys aged 9+

This action-packed adventure book has seven short stories about Alex Rider.  The stories are set inbetween the earlier Alex Rider novels.  I liked these stories because they reached the action very quickly; they differed in length so there was a variety between them.  The stories aren’t linked so you can read them in any order.  Although the stories are less detailed than the Alex Rider novels, they are fast-paced with the same sort of themes and style.  Overall, I’d recommend these to fans of the Alex Rider series as well as to anyone who enjoys action stories.

I've not read any of the Alex Rider's series but I will definitely be looking out for them now. This book is a great introduction to the character, including details of how he was recruited by MI6. There are a few references to other stories and probably spoilers to the outcome but I thoroughly enjoyed the short snippets of Alex's life. Some of the plots are fanciful and imaginative especially for a 14 year old boy but they are fun to read and easy to follow.

I really enjoyed these pocket fizzlers of short stories . They have all the right ingredients :A dash of humour , a flicker of thrill , a smidgen of crazy , and ,of course , a potent punch of action . I find it astounding that you can fit so much into one story , a credit to the authors unrivalled skill in the genre . I haven't read very many Alex Rider books , but I followed these easily enough . Although this is a stereotypically boy's book , as a tomboy I still enjoyed this and although I wouldn't recommend it to younger readers , I still loved it . It certainly made school days more interesting!!
