If you're brave, helpful, honest, good to your planet and kind to animals (even ones that don't do much ... like boring worms) then you, too, can be a LITTLE ADVENTURER.

From the award-winning Philip Ardagh, and rising illustration talent Elissa Elwick, comes a brand-new picture book series! Meet the Little Adventurers - Finnegan, Sprat, Floss and Peanut. Each week they meet in their top-secret shed HQ, ready to share their fun with you! This week, Sprat can't seem to find his cat, Shadow, anywhere. And he absolutely has to have a pet - it's bring in a pet day! So, instead, he finds a leaf, draws a little face on it and... Ta-Da! Sprat has a pet: Leafy! But can you really have a leaf as a pet? With an activity idea and an information page with every story in the series, the Little Adventurers four will encourage hours of immersive play, and will ignite the imagination of curious adventurers everywhere.

My children adore this book. It's funny and quirky with characters that are both cute and quite realistic. The idea of a quick thinking child creating a pet leaf made us giggle and we were all keen to head out into the garden to make our own leaf pet! We can't wait to read the next 'Little Adventurers' story!

Little adventures- leafy the pet leaf
It's s great story of 4 friends who go on adventures, this story is about bring your pet day.
I read this story to my 3 year old daughter. She didn't speak at all while I was reading which is a good sign she enjoyed it. We love how colourful the book is and the story is fun and just what you'd expect child to be doing when there off playing.
I asked my daughter what she liked and she said leafy, I asked her why and she told me it was because leafy had a smile.
Great imagination throughout the story and a good read. There is a couple of pages at the end with animal facts. We didn't read these this time but it's a good idea to have them there.
Lots of bits to see and point out, like when sprat was looking for his cat.
We really like the part where sprat shows his friends how to make their own leaf pet

What can I say... this was fantastic! It had everything to keep a child (and myself) captivated; it was funny, cute and had a great storyline. My daughter loved the fact that you could make a leaf a pet especially as we don't have a pet. Except, we do now as we have made our own Leafy just like the little Adventurers.
The illustrations are fantastic you can get a good feel of the characters through the pictures. There's lots of colour and loads to see on each page.
We can't wait to see what they get up to next....

The Little Adventurers are having a ‘Bring in a Pet Day’ but Sprat can’t find his black cat, Shadow, anywhere.  Determined not to be left out, Sprat uses his imagination and creates a pet that no-one is going to have – Leafy the Pet Leaf.
As all his fellow adventurers share their knowledge of their pets, they don’t seem overly impressed by Sprat’s new best friend, but as ‘Bring in a pet Day’ wears on, they soon start to learn that pets can make the very best pets indeed.
A quirky book full of interesting layouts and word tricks to engage and delight young readers.

This is a lovely book with an amusing story line. The book is a nice size, with appealing characters and is beautifully illustrated. My 4 year old daughter says: "I liked this book. It was good, and funny. My favourite bit was when Leafy did a loop-the-loop - and all of it!"

We borrowed this book from the library because it had rave reviews on here and we were a little disappointed. Overall I think it's a little too long and tries to get too much in. The pages are very busy and I think it would have been better to keep it simple. The central theme is about having a pet leaf which is great and after reading the book at this time of year (December) there were lots of leaves on the ground so we kept saying "look, there's Leafy!" etc. Also, I didn't really like the element of competition e.g. someone's pet had to be the best. Overall, my concerns wouldn't have really mattered if my daughter had been particularly taken with the book but she wasn't that interested. We do still call every leaf that we see 'Leafy' though!

The story in the book is lovely, about a group of 'little adventurers' who do a bring a pet to school day... only one doesn't have a pet, so has to come up with his own! It got my littles giggling and really fired their imaginations! However, we all felt the book was a bit too long and repetitive and would have been more enjoyable had it stopped sevetal pages earlier! Still def worth a read...
