Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence
when she is forced to represent her district in the annual Hunger
Games, a fight to the death on live TV. But Katniss has been close
to death before-and survival, for her, is second nature. The Hunger
Games is a searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels
to our present. Welcome to the deadliest reality TV show
ever...

It is such an amazing book, I would rate it 5 stars as it got me hooked from day 1. I read the trilogy in 2 weeks and it really move down me. My favourite character is Finnick as he always shows kindness to everyone. I am watching the movie s to see how the books were interpreted.

I would not do justice to this great story if i dont give it 5 stars.
I got hooked the moment i picled up the book, the plot is great it tricks into loving some charecters Gail and then when you find out what he had been doing willingly you just hate him.
The book series was much better than the films even though the film were really good, they just werent as detailed.

I absolutely loved this book. it was especially interesting when Katniss' sister got chosen in the day of the reaping but Katniss stepped in and volunteered to take her place. it combines romance, sadness and so many other cool book genres. I recommend this book to anyone aged 11 and over.
I hoped my review helped!

The best thing about this book is that it has drama entwined with a little bit of romance that adds a sort of hook. I think Suzanne Collins managed to use a lot of different genres, the main one is dystopia as it portrays what our world could turn into if we fought all the time.
The characters were amazing and I could really imagine them and compare them to my life at home. I could almost feel their pain when their loved ones were destroyed even if they were on the opposing team.
I really enjoyed this story and loved it all the way through. The storyline was about an average girl who turns great and triumphs her leaders, and it really got me involved. Anyone who likes Divergent by Veronica Roth would love all three hunger games books.
Because it does involve some violence I would only recommend it to older readers and teenagers. But I would give it five full stars for excellent description and storyline.

The hunger games book are amazing. I didn’t start reading them until after I watched the first film. Which I watched as couldn’t find anything else. But once I had started reading the first book I fell in love. I was 19 when I first started reading them. But would recommend them to any one from around 11 or 12 upwards. It is an extremely captivating reading and will make you not want to put it down at all. Love it!

This book was probably the best book I have EVER read. It was full of action but also very thought provoking. Iit makes you think about how close humanity is to this situation. I would recommend this to anyone who likes dystopian fiction and wants an amazing book to read. This is the first book in the hunger games series, the first book is closely followed by catching fire and then mockinjay. Suzanne Collins is a EXTREMELY amazing writer  and her books. Are the best books EVER.

This was a fabulous book - it really captured my imagination as a reluctant adult reader.
I have since used this book with 11 year olds in my Y6 class, and they have really enjoyed it as much as I did.
A fantastic storyline which carries throughout the trilogy.
A must read!

I really enjoyed this book the whole way through and I liked that it wasn't based in a magical world because sometimes there are lots of made up words that can be hard to keep track of.
Katniss steps up to replace her sister in the hunger games and embarks on a mysteriously thrilling adventure of life or death...

I would recommend it to anyone over 10 years old.

I watched the film first but still wanted to read the book. I am glad I did as the book was even better. I could see it all play in my head while I read it. It was really gripping and every time I picked it up I had to keep reading. I am going to read the next book in the series before I watch the film.

I really enjoyed this book and it gripped me from the start.  It is faced paced and exciting, you will not want to put it down!  I really liked the way the book was based in the future and it made me think about wether that was things really will be.  Another thing i really liked about this book is that it had very new and exciting ideas that I had never thought about before. I loved this book and recommend this book to anyone who likes dystopian novels or an exciting book.

This is a fantastic book and I absolutely loved reading it. I couldn't put the book down and read it in a matter of days. I really liked the characters in it and thought Katniss was fab. The story is about a reality TV show where 2 children at 16yrs, from each sector of the world are forced to to fight to the death. Brilliant book!

This is an action packed thriller about 12 boys and 12 girls being forced into an arena where only 1 will survive.  They are being forced to do this and other horrible jobs by the capital and President Snow.  The children live in 12 districts surrounding the capital and 2 from each district are sent into the arena every year to fight to the end.  This book follows the story of Katniss Everdeen and her quest to survive.  A fantastic story which will keep you gripped to the very end and make you want to read the 2nd book in the trilogy.  I would recommend this to 11+.

This, without a doubt, is a adventure story. From right at the beginning, when Katniss was hunting in the woods, and all the way through the book to the very end, you get that tingling sensation, exclusive to only the best adventures. I loved this book soooooooooooo much - there are hardly any words to describe its fabulousity.
The emotive language that has been used in this book is phenomenal. Every step of the way, it is though you are there, fighting those battles, sharing those sorrows. Katniss is a wonderful character and many young girls should aspire to her persevering nature and independent characteristics. She is a true hero, and deals with the hunger games in just the right way. Whether she wins or not, is still an unanswered question.....

Of course, I must talk about the violence element - it is only expected for this story to be gory. Surprisingly, I found that Collins has described these incidents in such a manner that you are shaken mostly not by horror but by sorrow. This, however doesn't change my view that this is for mature and sensible children aged 11+. It could, however, be read to children by their parents even if the children are only 10 (or over).

I liked this book as it had a lot of action in it and also the end of the book was left on a cliffhanger. The 2 main characters are Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark and they got chosen to compete in a contest against 22 other contestants.
