Possibly one of the best Julia Donaldson books. Stickman is taken away from his family, and so begins an epic journey as he tries to return to his family. Along the way he is continuously mistaken for a stick - and there are lots of thongs that sticks can be used for.
The ending to this book has a Chritmassy theme, so this is included in our festive book box that we get out in December each year. However, my family can all quote lines from this book and do so all year long! It's a great book for joining in with the words and both my children love this story.

Wonderful engaging story, which has a lovely ending. Great for a Christmas time story, all my children love it even my 19 month old picks it off the book shelf regularly for me to read to him! The illustrations are lovely and there are so many themes you can take from the book to talk about further with your children. It's a must have for every family in my opinion.

A stick man has a family in a tree and one day he gets separated from his family when a dog picks him up. It's a story of the adventures of the stick man. The rhyme and flow of the book is lovely and there's lots of repitition.

My three year old loves this book especially around Christmas time.  It has a nice rhyme and is easy to read out loud repeatedly. The story is appropriately suspenseful as my little one really wants to know if and when Stick Man will be reunited with his family. And of course, the appearance of Santa is extra fun.

This is a real fave...after being obsessed with the animated adaptation...watching it over and over again...we read the book over and over again!!  Who says you shouldn’t watch the film before reading the book??!! Lo is totally invested in the story of Stick Man’s quest to return to his Stick Lady Love and Stick children three!

A wonderful book from the Donaldson/Scheffler duo...we love the link with the Gruffalo’s child and love spotting other creatures and character cameos...

Great to accompany a visit to the visitparks The Stick Man trail too...an endearing story most stick loving kids and adults can relate to!!

Tommy chose this book as his first title in the new summer Reading Challenge at the local library. Having seen the cartoon at Christmas he was already familiar with the story which he loved, and has previously enjoyed the Gruffalo stories at bedtime with the funny rhymes and excellent illustrations.
His favourite part is when he finds his way back to the family tree at the end with the help of Father Christmas!

One of the best Julia Donaldson books, Stick Man is separated from his family when a dog picks him up and runs off. He continues to be mistaken as a stick by many different people and animals, who all find different uses for him. He is taken further and further away from his family who he misses dreadfully. All he wants to do is return to his Stick Lady love and his family tree. Will he make it back in time for Christmas?
As with all Julia Donaldson stories this one is a rhyming story that is fast paced, clever and with a great ending. Definitely a must read for all young families.

Another winner from Julia Donaldson, my daughter really enjoys this book she thinks stick man is great. She felt a little sad when he was kept away from his family and I could see she was a bit nervous when he went on his journey to find his family and came across many obstacles.  But she loved the ending; especially when he helped Santa Claus and in return Santa helped him. A lovely book with fantastic illustrations, which showed stick man's adventures. Definitely a one for the book shelf.

This is my daughters favourite book. I manage to get her to sit down and we can read the whole book together. She calls out the animals she sees in the book and repeats- stick man, oh stick man. She loves it so much that we read it daily. A great story for children and adults.

Stick Man 9781407170718

When Stick Man gets confused for an ordinary stick his adventures take him far from his home and the family he loves. Only one magical man can help him find his way back ...

This book is another cracker from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Cece and I love the rhymes and the book’s chorus ‘I’m Stick Man, I’m Stick Man, I’m Stick Man, that’s me ...’ ; the story narrative is easy to follow and the pictures are detailed and beautifully complimentary.

Not our fave Julia Donaldson but still worthy of a permanent place in our bookshelf!
