This is the story of Alison Hubble
Who went to bed single . . .
And woke up double! A tale of MATHEMATICAL MAYHEM from magnificent illustrator Bruce Ingman and master storyteller Allan Ahlberg! Alison Hubble is shocked when she wakes up to find a twin in the bed next to her. And she keeps doubling . . . and doubling . . . and doubling! A fantastically funny and completely clever new picture book from the critically-acclaimed pair behind The Pencil and The Runaway Dinner.

This is a fun and unusual story of Alison Hubble, a girl who goes to bed and wakes up double. She carries on doubling until there are hundreds of her. The text is fun, quirky and literary without being stuffy. It's all in jolly rhyme and was fun to read aloud to my daughter. We enjoyed the doubling and the mum and dad's exasperation. This was an unusual story as it piqued both my daughter's and my own interest. Genuinely original and highly recommended.

This story made us laugh so much. Alan Ahlberg is such a brilliant story teller and this tale, about a girl who mysteriously doubles, has all the elements that a children's book needs. The story is in rhyme, which gives lots of pace to the story. The concept is hilarious but is made more so through the very ordinary family that Alison lives in. We won't spoil the ending but it's worth reading, just for that. We loved the illustrations as they add so many extra little details (we thought that Alison reading on the toilet was particularly funny!).
