Come join Fred the Bear on a stunningly illustrated journey to be crowned the best bear in the wood and, just maybe, learn that there might be more to life than training...
Each year, for as long as the forest has stood,
A contest is held for the bears of the wood...
And Fred is the champion. He's just that good.
Fred is the Best Bear in the Wood - and he's got the medals to prove it. Being the best takes a lot of hard work, and time on your own, but Fred doesn't mind.
Until a new bear moves to town, and Fred's champion GRRRRR goes missing... How will he ever win now? Or will Fred instead learn that some things are more important than winning?
The second stunning, captivating and witty picture book from the immensely talented Rob Biddulph, whose debut BLOWN AWAY won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize.

Such a clever book - an original story with fantastic quirky illustrations. This book quickly became a favourite with my son joining in with the 'grrrrrrrrrrrr' at the top of his voice. I wasn't surprised when he chose it as his favourite for World Book Day.

We are big fans of Rob Biddulph's Blown Away and this book is possible even better!  We have read it at least once a day for the past week and yet my daughter still finds more in the beautiful, striking illustrations.  A great story line of two bears competing, one more fairly than the other, yet both searching for friendship.  A great lesson within a fun, exciting story.  Highly recommend.

Fred has been champion of the Best Bear in the Wood competition for three years, and trains all the time (and is consequently somewhat of a loner). But when a new bear Boris arrives in the woods and his roar disappears just before the next competition, Fred finds himself in need of help....

This is a CRACKING book with a great twist (although there are pointers along the way....), lots of opportunity to say "GRRRRR" and a good opening for discussions as to what is means to have friends / be a friend / be lonely / be popular etc.. Definitely one I'd buy for friends' kids.

Another great Rob Biddulph book! We have really been enjoying his stories. This one is all about a lonely bear who looses his grrrr just before the big competition, but he makes lots of friends who help him solve the mystery. The story has great rhyming text and is lots of fun.

This is such a great book! The rhymes are incredible and the illustrations are amazing. It touches on the issues of friendship and cheating in a humorous, sensitive manner. Plus my daughters love to shout out Grrrrrr! at the tops of their voices. It's the first Rob Biddulph book we've read but I'm definitely going to be on the look out for more.

We love Rob Biddulph...so, perfect when we find a new one....GRRRRR! tells the tale of a pair of bears that seem to want very different things...one thing they can agree on is the ‘Best bear in the wood’ competition...they both want to win!  Who will be the winner?

Really vibrant illustrations complement the lively rhyme... love the names Rob has used, especially Hepzibah and Eugene!

A Grrrrreat story to teach children that winning isn’t everything but that friendship is!

We love Rob Biddulph books, and this story has a nice story line and illustrations, however this one didn't get my son as excited as the other ones, I think it was difficult to understand that his GRRRR/voice was stolen and how his friends could be actually looking for it, how would they know they've found the GRRRRR? I found this a bit difficult to explain as well... But my son did like seeing the owl everywhere, recognizing the animals, counting the bears participating in the competition.
