READ BY GERALDINE MCEWAN. This classic story has been loved by millions of children since it was first published over 30 years ago.
READ BY GERALDINE MCEWAN. The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don't expect to see at the door is a big furry, stripy tiger!
This modern classic picture book is perfect for reading aloud, or for small children to read to themselves time and again. All artwork has been re-originated and a fresh design approach has been used for this reformatted edition.

This has to be one of the best loved picture books for children. Such beautiful evocative illustrations which seem to stand the test of time. This was read to me as a child and now my children enjoy it. Your child will enjoy the long list of things the tiger eats and drinks. An absolute classic.

I love reading this with my neice and she loves it aswell. There are bright clear illustrations to focus her attention on the story and she loves the list of food and drink he eats. It's not too short or too long, plus she can relate to Sophie as we have a dog like the tiger haha

This is a lovely story for children in key stage 1. We have been reading the book and it has been very popular with the children. They have enjoyed going in with the repetitive language “but he didn’t take one, he took all of them” and making up new titles for alternative versions e.g. the bear who came to breakfast. It has definitely caught their interest and imagination. A classic book that is still completely relevant for young children of today.
