This is a good funny story. It has a lovely rhythm and it is easy to read.  The illustrations really help the story.

Lovely little "quick bedtime book"
We talked about emotions and how the slug might be feeling. Laughed at all of the different help he got from others. Nice happy ending

My daughter chose this in the library. She loved all the additions the slug made to try and get a hug. A really fun book.

Leo chose to borrow this book from our local library. We haven't read any other books by Jeanne Willis so I wasn't really sure what to expect. In the story the little slug really wants his mum to hug him so he seeks the advice of other creatures, acquiring some of their different features along the way. The rhyming text flowed really well and Tony Ross did a fantastic job illustrating the little slugs peculiar look. Leo found it particularly funny and loved the happy ending!
