You can't take an elephant on the bus ...
It would simply cause a terrible fuss!

Elephants' bottoms are heavy and fat
and would certainly squash the seats quite flat.

Never put a camel in a sailing boat, or a tiger on a train, and don't even THINK about asking a whale to ride a bike ... This riotous picture book is filled with animals causing total disaster as they try to travel in the most unsuitable vehicles. A real romp of a book, with hilarious rhyming text and spectacular illustrations.

This is a wonderful book. Brilliantly funny with quirky illustrations. My daughter thought it was RIDICULOUS in an hilarious way. She loved the idea of squeezing an elephant onto a bus. There's plenty to keep kids engaged and I think we'll come back to this book again and again.

We love the array of animals and the simple humour if the different modes of transport. My 2 year olds can relate to both and find it funny. The illustrations are excellent to. My husband also loves it!

We read this again recently and Lo took it to school to accompany ‘transport’ topic!

David Tazzyman is new illustrator for us...love the comedy in the eyes!  Every page delivers a new animal and mode of transport that is hilariously impossible!  Great for discussion as to why alongside introducing new ways to travel  Love Patricia Cleveland- Peck’s rhyme.  Looking forward to the next instalment...

What a funny book my little boy loved this book when he got it for a birthday present, and the idea of all the animal traveling and doing things like a pig on a skate board or a hippo in a hot air ballon. A fab read

My little boy, picked this book himself. He's an animal lover and the front cover grabbed his attention straight away. The illustrations are great. The book itself is a real fun read, he laughs out loud at the different animals trying out different things. Especially the whale one. Great book with a funny ending, we read this over and over again.

This book is just hilarious. Each page focuses on an animal and why they cannot travel in a certain way. For example, a hippo on a hot air balloon or a seal
trying to drive a taxi. My daughter finds this funny but granted as she gets older I'm sure she will appreciate this even more. It's an imaginative, humorous story that also has some sneaky teaching, all about animal and their features, clever. My daughter enjoys me reading this to her (over 2 and a half years old) but I think some children may find this a tad long so would recommend for 3 upwards.

This was  a really funny book which I've enjoyed reading to my class of 3 - 5 year olds and my own young daughter.  It is a rhyming book which explores how ridiculous it would be for different animals to take different forms of transport - a tiger on a train, a seal in a taxi, and a pig on a skteboard for example.

I was really impressed with the vocabulary which this book presented to the children. I'm a fan of unusual words in children's books and i think this one presents some great new words (conveyance, capsize, and totter, for example) in a context which make them easy to understand and explain. The poetry isn't always perfect - some lines are a little clunky on first reading - but this is easily forgivable because there are also moments of linguistic brilliance and because there is a certain scribbly quality to the illustrations which works really well with the unusual words.

The book reminds me in some ways of Oi Frog, another favourite in our class, and I imagine we will be reading it just as many times over the coming months.

This book is hilarious!
The rhyming verses with the amusing illustrations work brilliantly together to amuse the reader and make you believe that the impossible is (almost) possible!
The laughter from Georgie and Leo throughout the book was infectious. They both love animals and travel so it wasn't a perfect combination.
We have already read the book several times and I know it will continue to be a favourite!

This book made my little girl and her friend laugh uproariously when I read it to them. The idea of an elephant riding a bus and being squashed in really tickled them.  The illustrations are a lot of fun and the words are amusing for adults and children. Since the first reading my daughter has been asking for it again and again. It's a library copy so we might need to buy our own!

We really like this book.  A whole host of animals are trying out different types of transport, which don't work for one reason or another.  Finally it seems like they would all be suited to going to rollercoasters!
The illustrations are quirky and fun and Lucas particularly loves the picture where the pig is whizzing along the rollercoaster's tracks on his skateboard.
If I'm being picky there are a couple of places where I don't think the rhymes scan especially well and it lacks the perfect flow but I am being a bit fussy!
All in all a really fun book and one that we keep coming back to.
