A board book edition of Martin Waddell and Patrick Benson's classic, reassuring tale of three loveable little owls home alone.A beautiful board book edition of a bestselling modern classic, this is the story of three baby owls, Sarah, Percy and Bill, who wake one night to find their mother gone. And as the darkness gathers and they perch patiently on their branch waiting for her return, oh how they worry! What are those scary noises all around them? What is mum doing? When will she be back? Never has the plight of young ones who miss their mum been so sensitively told or so beautifully rendered as in this tale from picture book masters, Patrick Benson and Martin Waddell.

Three baby owls are left alone while their mother searches for food for them.  Each owl responds in a different way to how they feel about her absence and their worries about whether or not she will ever return. This is a tale that small children will easily relate to as it voices their concerns about separation from a parent.  It is a very moving and touching story. The pictures match the vulnerability of the story and it is a joy to read. Much loved by both of my children, and a classic story for very good reasons.

Illustrations are memorable too.

This is an absolutely adorable book that deals with the issue of separation anxiety in a really sensitive way. The book is beautifully illustrated and the simple repetitive text make it a joy to share with little ones. It is a favourite of mine and my two girls. Perfect for snuggling up and sharing at the end of a day

This is the story of three baby owls who discover that their mummy is missing. It beautifully portrays the fears of little ones who don't know where their mummy is. Such a sweet story and so reassuring as their mummy does return. A lovely way to help deal with separation anxiety in young children.

This is a fantastic book that both my boys absolutely love.  I think most children will relate to the feeling of worrying when a parent/carer leaves and wanting a them to come back and so can relate to the story easily.
It is beautifully written: the story flows well with some repetition and makes it easy for little ones to join in with reading if they want to.  The story is simple and captivating and the happy ending makes it a perfect bedtime story.

Lovely book which I imagine would be great for separation anxieties in toddler/pre-school children. My daughter simply loved it for the pictures though as she is owl mad! Illustrations are gorgeous, especially the page where the mum sweeps back in. Thw owl babies are quite sweet characters in their own right - cleverly written book.

This is a lovely sweet book that suits younger kids. It is the story of three baby owls who are waiting for their mummy and getting worried. A lovely reassuring tale about how it's ok to worry and how mummy always comes back. We got this book in a gift set with a little owl soft toy so we use the toy to act out the story as we go along. My little girl loves the ending when mummy comes back and everyone is happy.

A stunningly illustrated classic story about three little baby owls and the emotions they have when they're missing their mommy. A beautiful bedtime story, fantastically written and a lovely story for toddlers, with a heart warming end.
