I thought that my 4 year old daughter may have grown out of this, as we had been reading since she was a baby. But, she dug it out the other day and we read it together again. The best thing is that the phonetic names and the familiarity of the story make it a great one for an early reader to branch out from set reading books and gain confidence.

One of my favourite childhood series of books and now I have had the pleasure of introducing Meg, Mog and Owl to my three year old twin girls. This book is a lovely introduction to the characters as is the first book in the series. The illustrations by Jan Pieńkowski are, as always, beautiful, colourful and full of humour and warmth. The story tells of Meg and her fellow witchy friends meeting up for a spell party. The fact that she accidentally turns them permanently into mice is,to me, a little unsettling but my girls found it hilarious. Simply put this book should be in every young childs bookcase.

This fantastic classic is a firm favourite of my daughter and also well-loved by son. It's read nearly every day in our house!

The bold, vivid illustrations captivate my toddlers and the story and text is brilliantly simple that they will know it word-for-word by heart soon (I know i already do...!) It's simplicity offers great learning opportunities for the very young e.g. when Meg is getting dressed or the ingredients in Meg's breakfast. We sometimes "read" via the pictures only and skip the exact wording of the text. It can offer some early lessons in narrative and sequences.

The robust board-book format has meant that I've been able to let my toddlers look at the book independently without fear of it being reduced the shredding or mush! Our copy is coming up 2 years old now and still going strong (though it is far from pristine admittedly).

The full Meg and Mog collection is wrapped and ready for Christmas on the back of how well-loved the original is.

A must-read if you haven't already!

Nice bold pictures, with easy to follow storyline. Great for new readers as well as for read aloud story time. These books are timeless I remember them from my own childhood and now my children will as well.

I loved Meg and Mog as a kid so was delighted to see this board book in a book shop and snapped it up straight away for my nearly 2-year-old. The simple, bright almost pop art illustrations are fantastic and intertwining some of the text in to the pictures works brilliantly. A funny story that ends very aprubtly!.

When my child brought this book home from school I knew it will be one of the books where all the series will have to be bought. It's a brilliant book and it's loved by small kids and the older one. Great illustrations and easy to follow stories cause that the kids know them shortly by heart - but still insist on reading it again and again...
Good resource to learn to read as well.
