I thoroughly enjoyed this book and think we'll like the Pip and Posy collection. I love the illustrations and it's a nice story. It had descriptive words yet wasn't too wordy and flowed nicely. The story followed the excitement of taking a helium balloon for a walk for it to pop on a tree. However, after some tears they decided to play with bubbles instead and enjoyed watching them pop.

Huge fan of the Pip and Posy series - the stories of these two friends explore every day toddler/pre-schooler situations which provoke big emotions in little people ! We'll rattle through the whole collection.... and talk about how we would feel if we were Pip or Posy.
In the red balloon - the two friends admire and enjoy a fabulous balloon, until they accidentally let go of the balloon, chase it... and watch it pop. Explores sadness at the loss of something they once enjoyed.... accepting that some things cannot be undone.... and finding fun / enjoyment elsewhere instead (thanks to some bubbles ! - they always make things better).

Pip and Posy books are a firm favourite with my children, so much so that I often check if there are any additions to the series which have been published. My daughter chose to read this one today as she came home clutching a balloon (the second, we had already lost one), she obviously remembers the story and always empathises when they lose the balloon as it drifts off into the sky. "Oh no" exclaims my 2 year old. Pip and Posy then decide to play with bubbles instead, again 2 year old daughter relates to this excitement. This is a really lovely book, the illustrations are very appealing and the characters very cute. These books are all based on every day toddler situations and how Pip and Posy resolve them gives a lesson for all. We often read this before a nap or bedtime as it's a lovely calming book.

The book is based on two friends, Pip and Posy. In this story Pip has a lovely red balloon that everyone admires but it soon pops leaving him very sad. His dear friend Posy has an idea on how she can cheer her friend up. The book is filled with gorgeous illustrations and simple text for young ones to take in. I would highly recommend this. This book represents what friendship is all about, helping, caring and having fun. Pip and Posy books often present a problem, which are often what children experience, and then a resolution.

The Pip and Posy books are great for pre school children. My toddler listened intently as we read this story and joined in with lots of "oh no" and "balloon" as the balloon bursts. It's a really good way to explore things that smaller children may find upsetting. It's a good length for a story time.

We love pip and posy! This story is about the grief children feel when a balloon pops or floats away. Pip is really upset but then posy cheers him up by blowing bubbles and laughing about how they float away and pop! Lovely lovely book and great series for little ones
