The witch and her cat fly happily over forests, rivers and mountains on their broomstick until a stormy wind blows away the witch's hat, bow and wand. They are retrieved by a dog, a bird and a frog, and each animal asks for a ride on the broom. They climb on, one after the next, until the broom is so heavy that it snaps in two! What will happen next as they tumble into a bog and meet a greedy dragon? Julia Donaldson's irresistible verse and Axel Scheffler's instantly recognisable, lively illustrations will captivate children in Room on the Broom - a much-loved tale of quick wits and friendship.

My son loves this book! It's another classic to add to his collection. The rhyming text and the big pictures keep his concentration and he loves pointing out all the animals and laughing when things keep blowing away!! A lovely book which will be enjoyed for many years to come I'm sure

An amazing and beautiful book with a very nice witch. In this book you see that having a broom and a cauldron is not scary at all. The witch is so nice and clumsy. She keeps loosing things and then other animals find them and they ask to join her on her broom and she always accepts it. Even if there's not a lot of space on the broom, she always want to give space to them, until it finally breaks in two and then she faces a witch but the animals get together to save her: great teamwork! It's a wonderful book, great rhymes, very well thought through, and of course there are the perfect colourful illustrations and details of Axel Scheffler! We love this story so much!

We first saw the short movie after already liking many of her books, then we heard her song about it (A Treasury of Songs) and then finally we went to a theatre adaptation from it, and different from the usual, now we finally read the book. All amazing!

I started reading this book to my little girl over 1 year ago now.. She still at 4 years old asks me on a number of occasions to read this as her bed time story. She's recently pointed out that she loves it so much because of the rhyming. ::) 10/10

A solid favourite of ours! Yet another gem by Julia Donaldson: written in her usual bouncy, melodic rhyme it is easy to engage children when reading aloud.
The story follows a witch and a cat as the journey: the witch loses posessions to the wind which are then found by a friendly animal. The animals (a dog, bird and frog) join them one by one - until finally the broom can't take the weight and snaps. The animals fall and the witch struggles on, perched on half a broom - chased by a hungry dragon! Her quick-thinking gang manage to thwart the dragon and the witch is saved. Together they create a broom that has room enough for all of them and they fly off into the sky!
My son thoroughly enjoys the story; he gets really excited as each animal joins them - but he can't contain himself when the dragon appears! He's never been scared or worried about reading this - despite the "threat" of the dragon; could be a concern for other children though?
The book is brimming with beautiful illustrations - my son will sit for ages examining them in detail. Themes of goodwill, friendship and team-work run throughout.
It's a wonderful story to share at Halloween (or any other day of the year!)

The characters are easy to follow and it is a fun story. We have also seen a theatre adaption of it. Both my older children enjoyed it when younger and I'm looking forward to reading it to Theo when he's older.
