Man on the Moon is a classic! It's really fun to read as the pictures tell a slightly different story to the text; we always have fun spotting aliens that Bob doesn't notice. Simon Bartram has a great story telling style that children love (and one that makes for fantastic reading aloud by grown ups too!).

The Simon Bartram (bob) series is eye fetchingly illustrated, comically detailed and entertaining book series!
There are beautiful and expansive double page full size illustrations which keep both of my boys entertained while the story is being read to them, and often, Simon Bartram hides things to spot in the pictures - such as cheeky aliens.
This story follows Bob, who is the Man on the Moon. We go to work with Bob, whose job it is to show tourists from earth around the moon. He also has to clean up the moon after the day is finished. The tourists often ask if Aliens exist - but of course they don't - but I think both of my boys would dispute that, since they have managed to find plenty hiding in the books setting (which Bob hasn't noticed!).
After his long days work, Bob returns home to earth - but he is unaware others have taken that journey with him too. Look at all those aliens blending in on earth!
A gorgeous book, well suited to boys and girls. Would make a great gift.

The children loved this book. They thought it was hilarious that Bob didn’t notice the aliens and enjoyed spotting where they were hiding in the illustrations. This book was the perfect contrast to our non-fiction books about the moon landings and fitted very nicely into a comparison of fiction/ non-fiction.

Bob is the Man on the Moon - each day he gets up and eats breakfast before travelling in a rocket to the moon. The story takes us through a typical 'day at the office' for Bob, all the little tasks that he must do and what he is responsible for.  Bob is a very likeable character, very sensible, and the only thing that slightly annoys him is when people ask him about aliens - which, of course, do not exist. Or do they?!?!
