A much-loved classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar has won over millions of readers with its vivid and colourful collage illustrations and its deceptively simply, hopeful story. With its die-cut pages and finger-sized holes to explore, this is a richly satisfying book for children.

Absolutely loved this book as a child and still very much enjoy it today. Children can learn about caterpillars and how they turn into a butterfly as well as learn about the foods they should eat. Children can get involved by counting the number of items the caterpillar eats each day which promotes maths development. It’s a great adventure book with fantastic illustrations. Great discussion with children can take place about healthy eating after reading the book.

What's not to love about this great classic children's book. I grew up with it and it was one of my daughter's first books. We joke that she is the hungry caterpillar. Wonderful colourful pictures and it has great attention to detail with holes in the fruit as the caterpillar eats the fruit one by one. It's also nice for the children to learn about how the caterpillar grows into a butterfly. All round good book which will be read for years to come.

Follows the story of a caterpillar from egg to his metamorphosis into a butterfly. My son loves this book, counting the fruits and food he eats and wobbling his fingers through the holes. He particularly enjoys it when we get to the page where the caterpillar is big and fat! Beautifully illustrated, a great length for little readers and a firm favourite.

This book is wonderful with it's bright pictures , the way the caterpillar has eaten through the book is a fantastic way to keep children entertained and interested in the story . Its great for all ages as the young children will love to poke there fingers in the holes and you can count what he has eaten . And for the older children it's great to read and they will count also to you . It also teaches them a fun way how a caterpillar turns in a butterfly. Most definitely a book to recommend to family & friends .

A classic and much favoured book. Stiff board pages which are easy to turn and wonderful bright collage illustrations. My son loves this book, seeing the change from egg to butterfly and all the food stuffs which the caterpillar eats to bring about the change. He loves naming the different food - some unusual ones for a caterpillar - all part of the charm of this book.

This book is fantastic and my girls and I love reading it. It is a book that I still remember reading when I was younger so it is lovely to see my children enjoy it too.
It is a book that grows with your child as not only is it a story but there is so much learning within it too. The days of the week are explored, numbers and amounts of food the caterpillar ate are mentioned and of course the caterpillar transforming into a butterfly.
The board book version we have is great for little hands to handle and it is a great size to pop into your handbag.
My eldest daughter has enjoyed this book for nearly three years now and now Baby is enjoying it too. I would say this is a classic and would highly recommend it.
