Love this one from the Mr Men Series. Great, funny Christmas story that has lots of mr Men characters and some silly antics which keep my daughter amused. She is really getting in to Christmas this year, especially Santa, so it's great to have a book which she can engage with and work to expand her Christmas vocab!

This charming festive treat is the 36th book in the Little Miss series (though to be fair, they don't need to be read in order.) Little Miss Christmas is the niece of Father Christmas and works for him, wrapping all the presents. She decides to take a holiday and asks her bother (Mr Christmas) to come help Father Christmas while she's away...unfortunately they spend most of their time playing games. Little Miss Christmas has to enlist the help of all the Mr Men and Little Misses to get the job done by Christmas Eve.

It's a great story that I save until December - I have it stashed away out of the box set with all the Christmas stories. It's a 5 minute (or so) read so it's a nice one to visit if you're reading a few in a row. My son loves the idea of the flying teapot and both of them get very excited when they see all the presents, my son likes to guess what's inside. My daughter really enjoys the familiar faces of the Little Miss and Mr Men - they try and name them (with not a great deal of success on my daughter's part!) It's only small so my children can easily handle it themselves and "read" it independently.

The illustrations are wonderful; as always. They are bright and eye-catching: they sheet amount of colours makes it great for teaching and consolidating colours, if the mood strikes! They accompany the text well and help demonstrate the meaning of the words we're reading to my children.  You can even read through the story using just or mainly the pictures.

In short, it's lovely, cheerful Christmas tale with some familiar faces and plenty of longevity! I think it will be enjoyed for years to come.

For a reason unknown to me, Georgie hunted out and brought this book to be read to her today....Easter Sunday!
She has just started recognising and naming the Mr Men and Little Misses thanks to an app we found, which I suspect was her motivation!
She loved trying to guess what each present was and then spotting all of the different characters. She found the 'unhelpful' ones very funny!
She loved the idea of the flying teapot and would like to go in one!

A nice sized book that my youngest daughter likes to flick through independently, though the story is quite wordy, when reading it to her I cut it down a bit! My older one liked the book and thought it funny that Santa was doing lots of things, but in it what he's suppose to.

Sophie loves sitting reading herself the Mr and little miss men books. She nibbled one of the corners, but didn't do that again, would be lovely to see a board book version. Sophie is starting to get fascinated with Christmas. She bought me over this book, Little miss Christmas. Its quite a long little miss book. A very long first page for her, she quickly turned the page before I finished. Little miss works for Santa and lives in an igloo at the north pole. I liked this bit as we was then talking about where Santa lives. Not sure where the magic flying teapot comes from like... at least little miss got a plane. There are two Santa's which is a bit confusing, human Santa and Mr men Santa. I might have to explain that one when she gets older, but for now its not been noted. Anyway they are very naughty, and play golf and go reindeer racing, procrastinating Santa's! Thankfully the Mr men and little miss crew get together and help the lazy Santa's wrap the presents in their own fashion of course.
hmm its a bit of an odd one.. doesn't really keep Sophie interested and a bit bizarre over all. Ill just see if she likes it over the years where ever it keeps on the shelf or not.
