A brilliantly funny, gripping novel from a born storyteller, The Parent Agency is an epic wish-fulfilment adventure for every child - and for the child in everyone.

Barry said, a third time, "I wish I had better parents!" And then suddenly the entire room started to shake...

Barry Bennett hates being called Barry. In fact it's number 2 on the list of things he blames his parents for, along with 1) `being boring' and 3) `always being tired'.

But there is a world, not far from this one, where parents don't have children. That's far too random for something so big and important. In this world, children are allowed to choose their parents.

For Barry Bennett, this world seems like a dream come true. Only things turn out to be not quite that simple...

Illustrated by Roald Dahl Funny Prize winner, Jim Field.

Funny, engaging and educational this book is fantastic. Reading this to my son and stepson has really helped us all settle in together. The characters are fantastic and the lesson of the story is extremely touching.

I enjoyed reading this book, it reminded me as a parent no-one is perfect but you are always loved!
The characters had some tongue numbing names and were unusual but all very funny, it was great that each character was used as another character just another role!
We read a chapter every night and really enjoyed talking about who were the best parents.

Great book. It put me in Barry's shoes. It's so funny and now I want to read the other books by this author, especially the new one! I like the way the books link characters (like the bullies) to each other.

A extremely clever book, well thought out and as always with David Baddiel, well written. Barry Bennett has the opportunity to choose his parents, but things don't turn out to be so simple. Very funny, some brilliant illustrations and well worth a read, from 7 to 107.
