This is a lovely little book about where all the things go that get lost - especially in the washing machine. It centres around a new arrival who is determined to leave, not because he doesn't necessarily dislike his new home with all the other lost toys, but to see whether he could.
I like that the ending was different to what I was expecting. I was expecting the lost toys to eventually be found by their owners, but they weren't and this was very refreshing.
The illustrations are also very charming!

Where the lost things go is a wonderful book. The colours of the pictures are vivid and draw you into the story. It's just the right length to keep children interested. It's about those items that get lost in the washing machine and in this story they end up coming out of a pipe at the bottom of the garden. The book describes their adventures outside the garden where they are persuaded to go by Moog the shrunk in the wash spaceman. Plenty of scope for different voices when reading to younger children. I read it to a 5 and a 4 year old. We loved this book

Is a lovely magical book. I love the 'this book belongs to page' to write Sophie's name. The first double page has a wonderful illustrations that feels like it glows and sparkles. The story is so lovely and really taps into imagination. Such brilliant heart warming characters and beautiful illustrations to match. The lost toys with descriptive names go on an adeventure. Moog gets his very own bed sock at the end. Love this story, it's one of our favourites for bedtime now.

I read this book to a four year old boy who found it very entertaining, he really engaged with the story and it encouraged lots of conversation about his toys and what their names were. Also big discussion on how toys get lost. The story line was very gentle and easy to read to a small child, has excellent illustrations with lovely colours. The story also shows how the toys can all be different but how important it is to make newcomers feel welcome and how to show friendship and work/ play together. Our four year old loved the fact that the toys sleep in socks and he then found some socks and put some of his toys to bed in a sock. Would highly recommend this book.

There is something haunting about this story and it's illustrations. My daughter really wanted to know what is happening to all things that are lost in the washing machine. We love the story! It is clever, it is funny, it makes smart observations, it appeals to both children & adults. To top off the illustrations are beautiful, original & cool. Our favourite was the last one where the mystery of lost socks is solved:)

Basically it is a lovely book.. I believe that the book is a great adventure to children.

My daughter enjoyed this book and was absorbed into the story of these quirky characters and their little adventure. I particularly liked the friendship element, showing how the characters looked after one another (something I'm keen to emphasise to my daughter).

This book is beautifully illustrated, with lovely detailed, sparkly, eye-catching pictures and the text is also lovely.
As an Adult, I found the story a bit overly-involved with possibly too many plot devices - I didn't think it 'flowed' easily when reading it aloud and I wish there were less threads in the book and instead the author has focussed on developing one of two of the major plots in greater detail.
That said, my children seemed to really like it and my youngest (4) has asked to have it read to him several times since we received the book. I think they love the characters, and again the pictures are really captivating.

We loved the concept of discovering where the lost things go and what adventures they may continue to have, and the illustrations were interesting to look through.
My daughter did at times struggle to keep track of the plot as it wasn't perhaps as smooth as other stories she would choose to read again and again.
Still a lovely, sweet story.

My three year old twins quite enjoyed this book, but found it all quite confusing. There are too many peculiar characters that aren't very memorable as they are all so 'otherworldly'. The plot is overly complicated and makes little sense. These flaws aside I think an older child might enjoy it more and the illustrations are very beautiful.
