I liked the funny words that the bfg uses to describe things. Belly poppers are helicopters! The whole book made me laugh. It was very easy for me to read on my own and understand. I want to read all the books by Roald Dahl now.

The book was a great adventure, Sophie is a Orphan and the BFG is her friendly giant from giant country who wants to help children have sweet dreams. My favourite part is when Sophie and BFG go and give the queen a nightmare so she will help them sort out the giants. I didn't like it when the giants tryed to hurt the BFG. This story made me laugh and kept me wanting to know more.

This is an amazing story, the BFG is very loveable, unlike the other gruesome giants, and the vocabulary he uses is amazing, it made for a fabulous bedtime story for my 9 year old daughter, we had lots of laughs. We hope the future movie is as wonderful as the book!

This story is about a girl called Sophie who lives in an orphanage.  One night Sophie is kidnapped by a giant and finds herself in the land of the giants. She soon realises that the giant who has taken her is friendly but there are 7 other giants who are all Gastly and mean, snatching up millions of humans from there beds is what they love to do.  How will Sophie survive amongst the giants?  Would recommend to boys and girls who are good readers

Roald Dahl is an all-time hero, and it's a joy to pass my love of his books onto my son, who has been enthralled all the way through The BFG. In the story, The BFG (Big Friendly Giant), a kind-hearted giant who blows dreams into children's bedrooms, meets Sophie, a young orphan. They learn about each other's worlds and plan a mission to visit the Queen, to enlist her help in conquering the less friendly, children-snatching giants. The language is an absolute delight in this book: the BFG does not speak perfectly which gives Roald Dahl free rein to invent wonderful words which have now become part of our family's lexicon. The humour, the imagination, the poignancy all come together to make the most perfect bedtime adventure to share with your children. The enraptured look on my son's face at each twist and turn, or made-up word, as he's looked at me and gasped, is testament to the wonder of this book.

Having read this as a child I knew my two would love this story too,I bought a box set of Dahl and we are making our way through them!
The BFG is a fantastic story about a friendship between a young girl and a bullied giant, who doesn't wish to conform to the British ways of his fellow Giants.
Dahl uses amazing vocabulary that captures every child's imagination and they love hearing all the BFG's mannerisms and funny words.
In true Dahl style the bullies end up being beaten and good triumphs over evil.
Totally recommended - if you haven't already read it, then do so both child and adult will enjoy thoroughly!

The BFG was the first Roald Dahl story I had read to me. I loved it from beginning to end. My mum encourages me to read the book before I watch the film.Im glad I did as the film missed so much of the book out. I enjoy both Sophie and the BFG. Sophie reminds me of myself as she us curious and brave.
