At night, when we are feeling tired and ready for bed, owls are just waking up. But this curious little owl decides to stay awake all day, instead of all night, and discovers a world bursting with colour! But when the night-time comes around again, the stars above her head are still the most beautiful sight of all. WOW! Said the Owl is an engaging book about colours from Tim Hopgood, the winner of the Best Emerging Illustrator, Booktrust Early Years Award.

This is a lovely story and a great way of thinking about colours without that being the entire focus of the book. The story has its own momentum and there is good repetition of 'Wow, said the owl' without the story being completely predictable. Lovely illustrations.

My son had had this story read to him at school so wanted it from the library. It is a lovely story and brilliant for learning colours for young children. It is also good for learning to read as it has repetition through the book. The illustrations are wonderful.

Lovely book with beautiful illustrations. Has a nice simple story which helps teach colours along the way. My children all enjoy this book and my eldest two (6&5) often read it to themselves or to their younger brother.

Gorgeously illustrated book about an owl who stayed awake to look at all the colours in the scenery. Every time he sees something different he says 'WOW' and describes the colours he can see.

Gives a lovely message of taking in and appreciating the scenery and colours around you! Plus at the ends it asks the reader to spot the colours in the book.

Perfect!!

One of the best colour books we have found.  A little owl is curious so stays awake and discovers day time displays so many beautiful colours hidden away from the owl at night time.  Beautiful illustrations and a lovely selection of shades of colours to help little ones explore colours.
We like the fact that colours are introduced through story telling rather than just stating colours on each page.  A sweet, endearing owl and eel recommended book.

This book follows the little Owl through its day focussing on the colours of the things that happen or that the Owl sees. It's a simply but beautifully illustrated book which introduces colours to young children through fun text and colourful pictures.

I love this book! The story follows a little owl who stays awake during the day and discovers the colours all around him. My daughter loves telling me the colours and the different things the owl sees. Easy to read, easy to follow and beautifully illustrated.

This is a lovely and well illustrated book. It made my little boy laugh every time the owl said 'WOW' and was great fun to read. It was great to learn a little bit about owls but also to introduce lots of colour into everyday life. It's a great way to start learning or simply practice colours with your little one and with some lovely repetition it helps to reinforce every colour of the rainbow. We have read this many times together and is now a firm favourite of ours.

This a lovely story of an owl who stays awake during the day and learns that the world is full of amazing colours in daylight. At the end of the day, as it gets dark,he realises that his world of stars is also beautiful. The illustrations are big and colourful, and my daughter loves pointing to the different parts of the pictures to recognise their colours and what they are. It is a favourite bedtime story. A wonderfully interactive and educational storybook.

This is probably one of the most read books in our collection and is a great book to introduce colours, rainbows and the concept of nocturnal animals to toddlers. It is hard to beat Tim Hopgood's illustrations!

Great book for teaching children colours. Both my children really like this book. It helps with teaching new colours and the adventures of an owl who sees the world in all it's colourful glory.

Owl stays up all day instead of going to sleep and discovers a world full of colour.
Good book for learning colours.... without it being a "list" of things to look at (like the 100 first words...type books).
A lovely book.... but I think once colours are known, has a limited shelf life.
