The summer has always been one of my favourite times for reading: curling up with a great book on the beach, under a tree, or even inside to escape a summer downpour, is my idea of heaven.

This year may not be what we had imagined, but we're certain that books will be more important than ever to families in the summer months - allowing us to escape to another world, keeping kids entertained and reading.

This selection of 10 books includes engaging picture books and activity books for preschoolers and beyond, as well as exciting adventures and gripping stories for emerging or confident readers aged 6+.
